YepYep’s Top 15 Web Videos of 2007
I figured I might as well publish one piece of original content each year, so what better than a list!?! Last year’s list was internationally renowned, but this one’s for Amerrrica. Anywho, here are my picks for the best web videos that were spread on the internets in 2007:
**Bonus Video #1 - Lil Black Kid at the Quickie Mart [NSFW] - This year’s bonus list consists of videos that I discovered this year but were actually uploaded in 2006. Can’t always be on top of all the web’s viral videos.
- Rundown: 7-year old gangsta claims to have paid for his candy cigarettes with a 20 dollar bill, but the clerk says otherwise. The ensuing discussion features the kid’s threatening potty mouth and the clerk using the “talk to the hand” move.
- Why watch: Because “this is America!” and this kid’s comebacks are phenomenal.
**Bonus Video #2 - It’s Potty Time
- Rundown: Teaching kids how to wipe on their own is a challenge, so why not help with teddy bears and songs?
- Why watch: So you can sing to your friends that you’re a “super duper pooper.”
#15 - Guns
- Rundown: What if guns didn’t go BANG?
- Why you should watch: Because by the end you’ll think of some sounds you would have added to the video.
#14 - Grandma Reacts to 2 Girls 1 Cup
- Rundown: Some evil guy videotapes his grandma watching the disgusting 2 Girls 1 Cup video. If you haven’t seen it, do some Googling of your own, but not at work.
- Why you should watch: Because you’ve seen the 2 Girls 1 Cup video and had a similar reaction.
#13 - Minesweeper: The Movie
- Rundown: CollegeHumor.com started producing their own web videos this year, and this is one of them. It’s the dramatic story of the soldiers in the real-life version of the popular (or not) Windows game.
- Why you should watch: Because it’s a good idea for a movie.
#12 - Bicyclist Pulls a Leon Lett
- Rundown: I’m not sure what or when this race was, but the apparent winner started celebrating a tad early and fell off his bike.
- Why you should watch: Because these moments of stupidity are great to laugh at.
#11 - Jurassic Fart
- Rundown: Someone animated 2 dinosaurs and a pig and then made them each fart. This is the resulting video.
- Why you should watch: Because farts will always be funny.
#10 - Laughing Baby
- Rundown: Baby discovers spring-like door stop, leading to all kinds of fun.
- Why you should watch: Because this list needed at least one cutesy video, and this beat out some puppy vids.
#9 - My New Haircut [NSFW]
- Rundown: A parody of the East-coast muscle-head-chotch-douche-bag that thinks he’s hot shit.
- Why you should watch: Because these guys probably aren’t acting.
#8 - Happy Feet Walk It Out
- Rundown: A mix of Happy Feet clips to the beat of DJ Unk’s “Walk It Out.”
- Why you should watch: Because it’s one of the best mash ups on YouTube.
#7 - The Tiddy Bear Infomercial
- Rundown: Someone invented a product to soften up your seatbelt where it might be hurting your shoulder or boobs. To make it even better, they designed it as a Teddy Bear that looks ridiculous. Tiddy Bear!
- Why you should watch: Because it seems like a good SNL skit, but it’s actually real.
#6 -Mom Finds Out Son is Atheist [NSFW]
- Rundown: A kid tells his mom in the kitchen that he’s an Atheist and her reaction is caught on camera.
- Why you should watch: “You’re getting nothing for Christmas! That’s what Christmas is about, Jesus Christ!”
#5 - Internet Commenter Business Meeting
- Rundown: A business boardroom filled with all the types of people who post on message boards or comment on blogs. Hilarious if you’re hip to the interwebs.
- Why you should watch: Because it brings to life most of the people who you think are Internet-losers.
#4 - Sparkling Wiggles [NSFW]
- Rundown: The people who videotaped this are hopefully the bad cousins or babysitters and not the parents of this little girl. What’s happening in this video is the girl is being asked to insert the words “sparkling wiggles” into various sentences. Hopefully she won’t be pegged as racist for life.
- Why you should watch: For shock value and to solve the mystery of how they even thought to ask her to say sparkling wiggles.
#3 - POWERTHIRST
- Rundown: An intense commercial for a fake energy drink that harnesses all of the ridiculousness of sports/energy drink marketing.
- Why you should watch: HARNESS THE POWER OF 400 BABIES!
#2 - Japanese Human Tetris
- Rundown: Contestants in this Japanese Game Show are challenged to fit their bodies into a Tetris-like shape. If they can’t, they’re knocked into the pool.
- Why you should watch: Because 98% of Japanese Game Show clips are hilarious, and this is one of the best.
#1 - Flea Market Montgomery
- Rundown: It’s your standard local access-type commercial, but this guy is a superstar with creepy eyes. Who would have guessed that rapping about living rooms and dinette sets would turn into such a hit?
- Why you should watch: Because it’s at #1, so it must be good. This clip has since made it to national TV and the owner got to be on the Ellen Degeneres show to chat about it.
