It’s about that time where everyone looks back on the good and bad of 2008.  I don’t consider myself qualified to provide worthy annual analysis on many subjects, but viral videos is one that I can.  I’ve posted over 1,000 videos on YepYep this year - most of them funny, some informative, but all a good waste of time.  To create this list, I spent the past few days re-watching and scoring every video posted this year.  That process led to a Top 50, which quickly made me realize I had to go beyond my annual Top 15 list.  The resulting list is what I consider the Top 35 Web Videos of 2008.

Actor Ernest Borgnine accidentally lets the world know about his self preservation technique.

#33 - Shaq Tells Kobe To Tell Him How His Ass Tastes
This freestyle is easily better than anything from the Shaq Diesel album. It allowed Shaq to get out some aggression related to aging, not being in the finals, and men hungry for his ass.

#32 - South Park Serves Bill Belichick
Cartman teaches students the lesson that it’s ok to cheat as long as you win, just like Bill Belichick.

#31 - Freestyle Rap Battle Translated
Some white guys mute footage of a freestyle rap battle and then narrate it with the likely lyrics (in proper English).

#10 - Jizz In My Pants
It didn’t have the same shock value as Dick In A Box, but Andy Samberg’s latest pop raunch is still a good one.

#9 - Crane Pull Ups
These crazy Frenchies climb up a crane without any safety chords, and then decide to do pull ups while dangling hundreds of feet in the air.  It really kinda freaks you out as the viewer.

#8 - Soccer Flip Throw-In To The Face
This kind of pain is always funny.

#7 - Standing On Table + Singing = Hard
Who knows why she felt the need to record herself on the table instead of just the ground.  She might sound great, but her balance leaves something to be desired.

#6 - Who Put This Dick On My Back?
This will forever be the greatest CNBC clip ever.

#5 - Best Man Slips, Ruins Wedding
This was one of the most debated viral vids of the year, and while there’s strong arguments from both the real and fake camps, no one has come out to claim responsibility for it being a hoax, which always happens after about a month of wondering.

#4 - It Makes My Taco Pop
It’s amazing that a copywriter somewhere wrote the line “It makes my taco pop” for Olympian Shawn Johnson in this Ortega commercial.  YTMND took it a step further and made a hot jam out of it.

#3 - Real Life Van Wilder Lives In Australia
This young stoner threw a party while his parents were out of town and 500 people came, causing havoc in the hood and yielding him a $20,000 fine.  His “I don’t care” attitude with the reporter is priceless.

#2 - American Idol Superfans React To David Archuleta’s Loss
This is the world we live in, people.  These kids are the future.

#1 - WE’LL DO IT LIVE!
This clip from Bill O’Reilly’s Inside Edition days hit the web this Summer and showed Bill’s true colors.  It’s fun to see the friendly face he puts on as soon as the camera is rolling, which makes you wonder what other anchors are like.

This story out of Philadelphia is one of the more bizarre you’ll hear.  James Cialella was trying to enjoy Brad Pitt’s latest flick, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, when he was disturbed by a yappy family nearby.  To handle the situation, James chose a 4 step process:

1. Ask rude movie talkers to zip it  (normal)
2. Throw popcorn at them when they keep talking (hard-shelled candy is more effective)
3. Still not complying, shoot the eldest male of chatty family (not recommended)
4. Sit back down, enjoy movie (you’ll be leaving soon)

And then people wonder why their rights to bear arms are becoming more limited.  People like James feel the need to protect their movie-viewing experience like it’s their prized autographed Brett Favre Wranglers.
