An infant in India was recently wed to his neighbor’s dog.  Seriously.  Why, you ask?  So that the mystical spirits would protect the boy from wild animals, of course.  When asked about it, the boy’s dad said:

“We performed the marriage because it will overcome any curse that might fall on the child as well on us.”

OK dad, so that’s what you call selfless love for your children - marrying them to the neighbor’s pet so you can be safe from the witch doctor’s spells.  Still no word on how exactly marriage between a dog and a boy relates to wild animal security, but we’re not supposed to ask questions.
