Tech nerd or not, everyone has a digital camera these days.  Your mom, your annoying friend at the bar, the guy in the window across the street, everyone.  That said, doesn’t it feel like you fail to see the majority of pictures  you’re in?  Even though digital simplifies the sharing process, most people are lazy.  Any of these sound familiar?

  • The download/upload/leftload/rightload process takes too long
  • Which cable do I use?
  • I’ll do it when I feel like it
  • I have way too many pictures on my memory card

As the designated photo guy, I’ve become accustomed to people nagging me to upload or email them pictures.  I’m a lot slower than I used to be, but the fine folks at Eye-Fi hooked me up with a product that expedites the process and upgrades your camera.

Nothing screams superfan quite like a team cell phone case to match your gameday outfit.  foneGEAR is currently having a 20% off sale and they have a wide range of cell phone cases (NFL, NBA, NASCAR, NCAA) that fit the majority of cell phones.  Plus, if your order eclipses the $35 sweet spot, you get free shipping.

I hit up foneGEAR to save on iPhone accessories such a new charger, sync cable, and mini bluetooth headset.  It’s true, I finally gave in to the convenience of the douchebag ear piece.  That said, I’m glad I didn’t get fleeced from the Apple or AT&T store for a few hundred bucks.

If you’re feeling lucky, they’re having a simple contest that could land you a sweet prize pack.  All you have to do is the following

  • Follow @foneGEAR on Twitter
  • Send them a message boasting about your favorite NFL or NCAA team
  • Tag it with #foneGEAR
  • Include a link to this post
  • WIN! (hopefully)

That’s it for messages from our sponsors.  Have a great Halloween weekend everyone, and send me any crazy pics you come across.

When you think of Cirque du Soleil, what comes to mind?

Unbelievable contortionists?

Incredible aerial acts?

General weird entertainment?

Well push those thoughts aside, because Cirque’s latest, called Banana Shpeel, is something completely different.  It’s a wild mix of comedy, hip hop, and dance that is tied together by a hilarious narrative.  It’s one of those shows that you can take your lady to and you won’t have to pretend to be entertained.  You may never tell your friends that you’re going to a “show”, but you’ll suggest this one to your friends that are hitched.  Here’s the official blurb for the slapsticky Banana Shpeel:

Propelled by crazy humor and intense choreography, Banana Shpeel plunges us into the world of Shmelky, a cruel and irritable producer who dangles fame and fortune in front of Emmett, an innocent and romantic actor who has come to audition for him. Emmett soon finds himself trapped in a flamboyant, anarchic world where Shmelky sows terror and reigns supreme. Emmett falls in love with the beautiful Katie and meets a bunch of absurd characters, including the strange Banana Man. But who is this mysterious Banana Man and how can Emmett escape the clutches of Shmelky and his henchmen?

The show is premiering in Chicago this November, and will head to New York in February 2010.  If you’re in either of those cities, here’s your opportunity to score some points for being a planner.  Whether it’s a just-because, get outta the doghouse, or Christmas gift, you can’t go wrong.  Here’s a small sample of the show that was performed on America’s Got Talent.  Be sure to stick around to the 1:30 mark where Flavor Flav does some sick tap dancing.

Everyone has “you gotta see this” moments while surfing YouTube, but what about when watching TV?  truTV is loaded with real-life programming that will bring out the many sides of  TV-watching you:

  • Throwin’ Bows: dangerous reactions to unexpected WTF moments
  • Talky Talk: yelling to help a victim before it happens
  • Poop Face: that squint look you know you do when something squirmish happens

I’m more of a “oh snap I hope that’s online so I can post it on my website”  type of watcher.  My two favorite shows are Party Heat and Operation Repo.  Party Heat because of the duuude-chicks-and-beer-blogger in me, and Operation Repo because it’s well known that I’m highly entertained by other’s mistakes.

Party Heat gives you a chance to relive Spring Break dumbassery in a much more realistic way than MTV’s Spring Break did way back when.  There’s hot chicks and meat sticks mixed in with a heavy dosage of beach and booze.  Plus, you’ll realize that you missed the boat (ha!) on drunken jet skiing.

03

Operation Repo features guys that are seemingly an intimidating hybrid of tattoo artist, gangbanger, and linebacker all in one.  These beasts are then sent on repo missions targeted at California’s finest degenerates.  Check out this clip where they show what happens when you don’t listen:

So there you have it, a new channel worth checking out.  If you were an OG reality TV fan and watched Cops and America’s Funniest Home Videos growing up, this is the channel for you.

Landing Frank Gore in round 2 was 100% because I’m a genius

Want to be the only person at your draft that isn’t using CBS Sportsline, FFToolbox, or FFToday cheatsheets to make picks?  WaiverWire.com is a new site that provides a free real-time drafting tool that is especially handy if you’re a part of any in-person drafts.  The tool is powered by software that takes all factors into account and makes legit (not-so-obvious) recommendations.  For you finance nerds out there, the site was founded by a a few former Wall Street guys that turned their passion for fantasy football and quantitative analysis into this product.  I’ll never say “quantitative analysis” in another post on this site, I promise.

The things I liked best:

  • Custom cheatsheets that were easy to create
  • Mock drafting tool so I could see who would likely be around for all of my picks
  • Live draft management that displayed everything I needed to know (helps expedite picks)

What I’m looking forward to (being a blogger has it’s perks, scored a free Full Pass membership for the regular season):

  • Weekly analysis and rankings
  • In depth matchup research
  • Aggregate local news feeds for all teams
  • Dynamic player comparison tool (great for potential trade analysis)
  • Not having to rely on the same Yahoo rankings that the rest of my league does

So there’s my pitch.  If you need an at work time waster, sign up for free (takes 1 minute) and setup a mock draft.  It’ll instantly take you back to when you first started playing and cared/prepared like it was a final exam.
